Wine & Gourmet ASIA 2008
Date : 5th -7th November 2008
Venue : Food Hotel China 2008
Partnership : Hospitality Asia is Supporting Media
Information : Wine & Gourmet Asia is successfully established as the regional networking platform for the fine wine, gourmet and hospitality industry, following the resounding success of the inaugural event in Macau.

In 2007 the Wine & Gourmet ASIA 2007 trade exhibition attracted 7,300 trade visitors, with over 55% traveling from outside of Macau. It was the first specialized F&B trade event to take place in Macau with 142 exhibitors from 23 countries and regions around the world participating. The show in 2008 is expecting a bigger turnout with more exhibitors and visitors.

The returning country groups for 2008 include Australia, Singapore and USA. The organizers are also expecting new groups from France and Portugal. Macau’s main wine and spirits distributor – Seapower will be returning as well.

Lauded as Asia’s Las Vegas, Macau is the region’s rising star for business tourism. Its strategic location in the Pearl River Delta, close to Hong Kong, and as an open door to Mainland China makes it a natural meeting place for all type of events. The Cotai Strip™ Convention and Exhibition Center at The Venetian® Macao is currently the largest one-stop event venue in Macau, with its complex covering 100,000 sqm.

An extensive range of supporting activities will be held during the exhibition, including the Asian Cocktail Championship, MORS Gold Pin Competition, Macau Culinary Alliance Show Piece Competition, Culinary Masterclasses, Wine Tasting Masterclasses, Hospitality Trend Forum, and Behind The Scenes Site Visit.

Visitors include F&B professionals from the hotel, tourism and leisure industry; chefs and sommeliers from hotels, bars, restaurants and food outlets in the tourism sector; fine food and wine importers, distributors and wholesalers; local and Asian gourmet marts; and wine appreciators/enthusiasts.

Exhibitors in 2007 unanimously praised the outstanding quality of trade visitors and buyers.

Mark Wood, Trade Commissioner for Australian Trade Commission (Austrade), Australian Consulate-General, Hong Kong, who was overseeing the Australian Pavilion at the exhibition, said: “Wine & Gourmet Asia 2007 provided an excellent platform for Australian suppliers to showcase their products to all the key buyers from Macau's booming food service and hospitality sectors.”

Wine & Gourmet ASIA is held concurrently with world-class sell out gastronomic events including a series of gourmet dinners, culinary and wine masterclasses, and a sensational Gala Dinner.
