PCC 08 which is a “Team Live Cooking Competition” where 4 chefs are to prepare a 4 course set menu for 4 persons in 90 minutes.

This event is endorsed by the State Government as one of the Penang Signature Event in the Calendar. This event is unique in a sense that the main ingredients (meat, poultry or/and seafood) is a mystery and only will be review before each round of competition and each round of competition the chefs will get difference main ingredients.

On top of that the organizer will introduce a special herbs or spices to each round of competition whereby the chefs must utilize in 2 of the 4 courses. Ingredients used in previous competitions are ginseng, codyceps, ginger-flower, lemon grass, galangal, rose flower, tongkat ali and etc…..this year lets see what !

This competition is very challenging and tough which required the chefs to display their culinary skills in butchery, preparation (mise-en-place), cooking technique and presentation not only in hot food but also pastries.

For this year's event, we had attracted 28 professional and 13 student teams, coming from 7 culinary competitions giants’ countries. The participating teams coming from oversea, Germany, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore, Thailand and South Korea. Team Malaysia are from north - Langkawi, central - KL, Selangor, Negri Sembilan, south - Johor and east coast - Kuantan, Pahang. This year entries had doubled the previous event. So look forward to a heavy BATTLE !

The panel of judges headed by WACS Global Master Chef Jochen Kern and assisted 9 other judges coming from Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia and Hong Kong will have a tough time to single out the BEST of the BEST !

The winners (1st, 2nd & 3rd) of this event, professional category will walk away with over Rm11000 cash + trophy, medals, certificates and gifts. The student category will received trophy, medals, certificates and gifts and the opportunity to represent Penang to overseas competitions.

For the general public, entrance to the competition area is FREE !
